Sculpted by Chris Hess, the Model #89 features a dynamic running stride, giving the horse a powerful and energetic appearance. The figure has a classic solid black finish, sculpted flowing black mane and tail, and white stocking markings on the lower legs.
The Black Beauty #89 was produced from approximately 1979 through 1988, making it a genuine vintage Breyer collectible. The white-leg markings varied between production years: early examples from 1979–1980 had four white socks, while later versions generally featured a single stocking on the right foreleg.
The model is part of Breyer’s Traditional scale and was particularly notable in the company’s history because the #89 Black Beauty was the first Breyer model produced at the company’s New Jersey factory after the move from Chicago.
